Former UP Minister Gayatri Prajapati Gets Life Sentence For Gang Rape

Lucknow, Nov 12 (TNA) Former Uttar Pradesh minister Gayatri Prajapati was awarded a life sentence by the MP-MLA court in the state capital on Friday. He was given the lifer in the case regarding gang rape of a woman in Chitrakoot.

The court also sentenced his two accomplices Ashish Shukla and Ashok Tiwari to life. All the three convicted in the gang-rape also have been slapped with a fine of Rs 2-2 lakh each.

On 18 February 2017, a case was registered against Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, Vikas Verma, Amarendra Singh, Chandrapal, Rupeshwar and Ashok Tiwari in Gautampalli on the orders of the Supreme Court under gang rape, threat to life and POCSO Act.

He was one of the most powerful ministers in the Samajwadi Party (SP) government and was incharge of mining.
