FIR Ordered Against Three Lucknow Hospitals For Over-Billing Patients, Other Unethical Conduct During COVID Pandemic

Lucknow, May 13 (TNA) An FIR has been ordered against three hospitals in the state capital for over-billing patients during the COVID pandemic. Instructions have been issued by senior IAS Roshan Jacob, who is overseeing the COVID relief in the city.

In the orders she has pointed out that that these three medical facilities - Macwell hospital in Gomtinagar, Devina hospital on Faizabad Road and JP Hospital on Kursi road were overcharging patients.

The report details that it was found during the inspection that these three hospitals were charging for things that the state government was providing free of cost. Despite oxygen being provided to these hospitals on priority basis, they were charging extra money from patients as shown in bills of Rs 86,400, Rs 38,400 and Rs 28,800.

Discharge summaries were not given in many cases, procedural and consultancy charges were added additionally. At Devina hospital it was found that patients were being treated without following the COVID protocol.
