Eminent Shia Cleric Kalbe Sadiq Critical, On Ventilator Support

Lucknow, Nov 18 (TNA) Condition of eminent Shia cleric and scholar Kalbe Sadiq remains critical, a health bulletin issued by the Era's Lucknow Medical College and Hospital, where he is being treated, said on Wednesday afternoon. The 83-year-old is suffering from sever pneumonia, urinary tract infection and septic shock, doctors informed.

He is on "assisted ventilation, vasopressor support and optimal antibiotic coverage". He has been in the hospital since Tuesday evening. Kalbe Sadiq was diagnosed with colorectal cancer and was operated for its cure in Delhi three years ago. He is one of the most prominent, software spoken Islamic leaders of Lucknow.

Kalbe Sadiq is an Islamic scholar, reformer, educationist and preacher. He was born in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India in a Shia family, The Khawandah-e-Ijtihaad. He has visited several countries for delivering lectures mostly in the Islamic month of Muharram.

His family earlier in the day scoffed rumours of his passing away and urged people not to pay heed to unconfirmed news. They also thanked the well wishers for their prayers.
