COVID's Rampage Continues In UP With An All-Time High 34,379 Fresh Cases And 195 Deaths
Lucknow, April 22 (TNA) The death dance and rampage of the dreaded Coronavirus continued unabated in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday with India's most populous state reporting 195 deaths and 34,379 cases in the past one day. This is the highest ever on both counts in the state ever since the outbreak of the pandemic in March last year.
According to the state government, in the last 24-hours Lucknow remained yet again on the top of the charts with 19 deaths and 5239 new cases of COVID. Prayagraj reported a fresh surge with 2013 new cases and 18 deaths. Varanasi, which has sent prime minister Narendra Modi to Lok Sabha twice in succession, reported 1813 fresh cases and 18 deaths.
Moradabad also reported a high of 870 cases and one death.
Kanpur city reported 1516 cases but a high of 18 deaths. New cases seem to be peaking in Ghaziabad now with the city reporting 1023 fresh cases and 10 deaths. This is very high in comparison to the situation just a week back. Noida reported 530 cases and 11 deaths.
Muzaffarnagar in western UP reported 499 cases and 2 deaths in the last 24-hours and in Agra 382 cases have come to knowledge and 1136 cases have been reported from Gorakhpur and two people died of COVID.
Oxygen paucity in the states medical facilities once again continued to be of great concern on Thursday. While the state government claimed yet again that all was being done to bring the situation under control, ground realities are scaring and much different.
