Congress Begins Overhaul Of Party In Poll-Bound UP, Many Appointments Made

Lucknow, Oct 16 (TNA) Buoyed by the recent success in the Lakhimpur Kheri where its leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra lead from the front and infused life in the moribund party organization, the Congress has initiated an expansion and overhauling of its set up in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.

And hence the party on Friday appointed 3 new vice-presidents, 13 general secretaries and 31 new secretaries in the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee. The appointments are an effort to make a cocktail of both the young and the experienced.

The party also named four district Congress presidents and six city presidents. The Indian National Congress (INC) leadership has also named PL Punia as the chairman of the Election Campaign Committee, while Rakesh Sachan has been made its convenor.

For election strategy and planning committee, Rajesh Mishra has been appointed the chairman, the Election Coordination Committee will be headed by Nirmal Khatri and Akhilesh Pratap Singh has been named its convenor.

Acharya Pramod Krishnan, who was very recently spotted inside the Yatra bus of Shivpal Singh Yadav, has been made the chairman of the chargesheet committee of which Nadeem Javed will be the convenor.

Manifesto Committee will be headed by former union minister of External Affairs Salman Khursheed and its convenor is Supriya Srinet.
