Canadian Envoy Hails Progress In UP Under Yogi’s Leadership

Lucknow, August 18 (TNA) Canada's High Commissioner to India Cameron McKay called on UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence in the state capital on Thursday. During the meeting, discussions were held on the strong cultural, commercial and strategic ties between the two countries as well as on how to further improve the ties between India and Canada, especially in Uttar Pradesh, an official informed.

Sharing his many experiences with respect to Uttar Pradesh, McKay said that the way Uttar Pradesh is progressing in the field of infrastructure development today, it is wonderful. While living in New Delhi, information about the better infrastructure development of the state keeps on getting through the media. In the field of expressway construction, the functioning of Uttar Pradesh is excellent, he pointed out.

High Commissioner Mackay said that the exchange of technology and knowledge between Canada and India should be increased. Canada is striving to further strengthen better trade relations with India. Uttar Pradesh can make a significant contribution in this direction.

Diplomat Mackay appreciated the efforts being made under the leadership of Chief Minister in the direction of women's safety, dignity and self-reliance in Uttar Pradesh, especially the policies of promotion of women entrepreneurship in the state, describing 'Mission Shakti' as effective.

Referring to the proposed Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit in January-February 2023, High Commissioner McKay termed the event as a great opportunity for Canadian investors. Describing the industrial policy of the state as encouraging for investors, he said that Uttar Pradesh is eager to cooperate in the field of education, infrastructure development and logistics.

Giving information about the proposed new industrial project in the state, the Chief Minister said that the state government is taking forward sector based projects like Plastic Park, Toy Park, Film City, Logistic Park, Mega Leather Park, Medical Device Park. This can be a good opportunity for investors.

The Chief Minister said that policy efforts are being made in the field of agriculture, agro technology, agro logistics, agro packaging in the state. There is immense potential for development in this area, in which Canada can be our good ally. High Commissioner Mackay discussed with Chief Minister Yogi the possibilities of cooperation in the field of tourism, agriculture, water, electricity and solar energy and educational exchange.
