Firozabad, May 22 (TNA) A luxury private bus travelling from Kanpur to Gurugram burst into flames on the Agra–Lucknow Expressway in Firozabad district early Friday morning after colliding with a sand‑loaded dumper, leaving around three dozen passengers injured and the driver dead, according to local police and district administration officials.

The mishap occurred near the Agra–Lucknow Expressway’s 43.300 km mark in the Madsena area of Firozabad. The dumper, reportedly carrying sand, first hit the central divider before the bus slammed into it from behind, triggering a short circuit and a massive fire inside the vehicle. Within moments, the bus was engulfed in flames, turning into a “ball of fire” and prompting passengers to jump out through the burning cabin in a bid to save their lives.

The bus driver died after being “burnt alive” at the spot, while the conductor was critically injured and shifted to the hospital, according to Firozabad district officials and the Madsena police station in charge. Around 36 passengers suffered burns and other injuries and were rushed initially to Fatehabad and Shikohabad hospitals, with most then referred to a medical college for advanced treatment.
