Prayagraj, February 21 (TNA) Expelled Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Richa Singh has opened a new front against her one-time party and has knocked the doors of the Election Commission against what she calls “dictatorial and undemocratic expulsion from the SP”. She has also sought action from the poll panel against the SP, in a one page-letter sent to it.

The letter sent today mentions that she was the first ever elected woman president of the student’s union of Allahabad University in 135 years of its history and had contested the 2017 and 2022 state assembly polls on the SP ticket. She further mentioned how she was all of a sudden expelled by her party on February 16 without seeking any explanation or giving her an opportunity to put her side of the story.

Singh added that natural justice demanded that a show-cause notice must first be served before any ection is initiated, She also said that the SP neither gace any explanation nor any reason for expelling her from the party. This, Singh pointed out, was a cear violation of Article 30 of the Constitution of the Samajwadi Party.

Such an act on behalf of the SP is derogatory, undemocratic and is against the principles of natural justice, inner party democracy and against norms, principles and basic spirit of the Constitution of India” she added further in the letter.

She concluded her letter by calling for the EC to “take cognizance of the said sabotage of democratic process and take necessary steps against the Samajwadi Party”.
