BJP Names Former UP Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma As Candidate For Rajya Sabha Seat

Lucknow, September 4 (TNA) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has named former UP deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma as its Rajya Sabha candidate from the state. The central election committee of the BJP on Sunday gave a go ahead to his name. Sharma, before being mayor of Lucknow twice served as deputy C of UP between 2017-2022.

He is currently a member of the UP Vidhan Parishad and his tenure is till January 30, 2027. However the BJP has now named him as the party for the Rajya Sabha seat which fell vacant due to the death of party veteran from Agra, Hardwar Dubey who passed away in June this year. Election for this seat is scheduled for Septeber 15 and Tuesday is ge last date of filing nominations.
