Allahabad HC Stays Acquittal Of Mohd Azam Khan By MP-MLA Court In Provocative Speech Case

Prayagraj, August 3 (TNA) In a big setback for the belagured Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan, the Allahabad High Court (HC) on Thursday stayed the order of the Rampur MP/MLA court that acquitted him in a case of hate speech and had let him off.

The High Court stayed the acquittal of the former UP minister on an appeal made by the Uttar Pradesh government. The next hearing has been scheduled for September 27.

A case was registered against Azam Khan in 2022 for giving a provocative speech. The veteran SP leader Azam Khan was sentenced to 3 years by the lower court but later the MP/MLA Rampur court acquitted him.
