Allahabad HC Sees Red On Ganga Pollution, Seeks Details On Billions Spent On Cleaning

Prayagraj, July 28 (TNA) The Allahabad High Court has taken a grim view of the continued pollution in the holy river Ganges and directed the Director General of Namami Gange Projectto submit the details of the billions of rupees spent in making Ganga clean. The court also asked why Ganga could not be cleaned till now?

The Allahabad High Court while hearing a PIL filed in the Ganga pollution case, expressed its strong displeasure over the working style of Jal Nigam, UP Pollution Control Board. The HC also commented that when the pollution happening in Ganga is not being investigated and action is not being taken, then why has the UP Pollution Control Board been constituted. The court also said that why it should not be abolished. The next hearing of the case will be on August 31.

The PIL was heard by a division bench of Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal, Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta and Justice Ajit Kumar.
