Ahead Of UP State Assembly Polls, SP-SBSP Seal Deal For Electoral Alliance

Lucknow, Oct 20 (TNA) Contours of the opposition unity ahead of the crucial state assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh became a bit clear on Wednesday as the Samajwadi Party and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) announced an alliance.

The deal was sealed aftera series of meetings between top aprty eladers including SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and SBSP head Om Prakash Rajbhar.

SBSP was an ally of the ruling BJP in the 2017 state assembly elections and Rajbhar was a cabinet minister but the ties turned sour and the two parted ways. Rajbhar eversince has been trying to stitch up with like-minded parties in the opposition space.

He has held meetings with AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and Shivpal Singh Yadav too. Now it remains to be seen whether they all will also be together in this larger umbrella of opposition.
