After Scuffle With A Hindu Religious Leader, SP Leader Swami Prasad Maurya Alleges Conspiracy To Kill Him

Lucknow, February 16 (TNA) Former Uttar Pradesh minister and Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya on Thursday alleged that the BJP government in the state wanted him dead.

The SP general secretary who has courted controversy with his objectionable comments on the Ramcharitmanas and angered Hindu seers, addressed a presser and said that the incident of a scuffle with a religious leader on Wednesday at a posh hotel in Lucknow as a result of one such conspiracy to get him murdered.

“Criminals have been given a contract to kill me” the former minister alleged while adding that people with criminal antecedants have been let loose on him in the garb of saints” he added. Maurya also charged the government of being hand-in-gloves with people out to cause physical harm to me for his comment on the Hindu epic.

He wondered aloud how the silence of the state government led by Yogi Adityanath was a hint enough of the complicity of the establishment in the larger conspiracy. “A section of people are conspiring to kill me though all I have done is to raise a pertinent issue of women, Dalits and tribals” Maurya further told reporters.

“I have written to the prime minister, president of India, to the UP chief secretary and concerned officials for my safety and security and hope to get proper and prompt response” the worried-looking leader further stated.
