After Flower, Gautam Gambhir Leaves Lucknow Super Giants Team Before IPL 2024

Lucknow, November 22 (TNA) The Lucknow Super Giants team, which has performed brilliantly in the last two editions of IPL, has suffered two major setbacks before IPL 2024. Head coach Andy Flower had already left the team.

Now mentor Gautam Gambhir has also resigned from his post. Gambhir himself has given information about this by posting on X (formerly Twitter). Now he has become the new mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR's coach is Chandrakant Pandit, while the captain is Shreyas Iyer.

Ever since Flower stepped down from the post of coach, there were speculations that Gambhir would also leave Lucknow. His tenure with KL Rahul has been brilliant, with his team reaching the playoffs twice. However, both times it was eliminated from the playoffs and could not reach the finals. In place of Andy Flower, former Australian opener and head coach Justin Langer was appointed the head coach of Lucknow Super Giants. At the same time, Royal Challengers Bangalore has made Flower its head coach.

Gambhir wrote in his post on Wednesday – LSG Brigade! Along with this, he added two heart emojis. Gambhir wrote- As I announce the end of my wonderful journey with Lucknow Super Giants. In this moment, I express my love and gratitude to all the players, coaches, support staff and everyone who has made this journey memorable. I would like to thank Dr. Sanjiv Goenka for his excellent leadership in creating a great franchise. I am sure that this team will show great performance in the future and will make all the fans of Lucknow proud. All the very best to the LSG Brigade.

Gambhir has worked with KKR before also. He has been the former captain of Kolkata Knight Riders and under his captaincy, KKR won the IPL title twice in 2012 and 2014. Gambhir was the captain of KKR from 2011 to 2017 and now he will work as the mentor of this team.

On his return, Gambhir said- I am not an emotional person and many things do not affect me, but this is different. I'm back where it all started. Now when I think about wearing the purple and gold jersey once again, there is a lump in my throat and a fire in my heart. Not only am I coming back to KKR but I am coming back to the City of Joy. I'm back. I am hungry. I am player number 23. Ami KKR.
