AAP Starts 'Free-Wood-For Last-Rites' Facility In Prayagraj, Sanjay Singh Donates One Lakh From Salary
Prayagraj, May 20 (TNA) Dismayed at a recent video that showed COVID bodies fished out of a river and being burnt by keeping tyres and spraying petrol in Ballia, the Uttar Pradesh unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday launched a compassionate campaign to provide wood for the last rites.
Rajya Sabha member and in-charge of UP, Sanjay Singh donated Rs one lakh from his salary to kickstart the campaign to provide wood for funeral pyres in Prayagraj.
Chief spokesman of the party in the state, Vaibhav Maheshwari informed that anyone who is not in a position to afford wood for the last rites can call@ 9935959058, 9616701644, 9792118833 and they would be provided free wood.
Sanjay Singh has also urged the influential and well-to-do people in the society and come forward and take part in the initiative and help people in distress to send off their loved ones on their last journey with dignity.
