11 Policemen Suspended In Agra Following Hooch Tragedy

Agra, August 26 (TNA) The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended 11 policemen, including three station house officers (SHOs) in Agra after spurious liquor killed ten in the district in the past 48-hours. And so while the district administration initially denied the reports of a hooch tragedy in Dauki and Deoria villages of Agra, with mounting deaths, chief minister ordered a probe by the ADG, Agra.

Following the submission of his report, chief minister Yogi Adityanath cracked the whip and ordered the suspension of all policemen found guilty of dereliction of duty. Following this, Umesh Chandra Tripathi, incharge Tajganj police station, Kuldeep Malik, incharge Ekta Police Chowki, constables Arun Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Somveer, Jagjeet Singh were suspended.

The state government has also suspended Raj Kumar Giri, inspector Shamshabad, constable Udai Pratap and Shyam Sunder. While there have been many hooch tragedies in the state under the watch of the present government, most recently being in Aligarh, Adityanath has been very strict ind ealing with such cases.

The excise department said police has meanwhile sealed four liquor shops in Kaulara Kala and Nagla Bhola village. The liquor stock is being matched and the alcohol will be sent for testing. Two excise inspectors have also been suspended by the government.
