Green Hydrogen Policy To Be Released Soon In Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, August 31 (TNA) Uttar Pradesh has taken rapid steps towards adopting non-traditional energy options. In view of global warming and climate change, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday reviewed the preparations for UP Green Hydrogen Policy-2023 with UPNEDA officials to encourage clean and green energy production sources in the state.

In the meeting, CM Yogi instructed the officials to prepare an effective draft by amending the draft of the new green hydrogen policy. Besides, instructions were also given to consult the stakeholders working in this sector so that investors and users can get maximum benefits under the policy.

Adityanath said in the meeting that green hydrogen, being a clean energy and industrial fuel, will prove helpful in achieving the target of net zero. In such a situation, the department should thoroughly study the policy of the Government of India regarding Green Hydrogen policy and prepare an effective policy. He said that water plays an important role in the production of green hydrogen. There are abundance of rivers in Uttar Pradesh.

“We can take advantage of this and become the country's largest green hydrogen producer. For this, he directed the department to coordinate with the Irrigation Department and create reserve water near small and big rivers of the state and use the rain water to produce green hydrogen. Besides, instructions were also given to encourage the firms working on green hydrogen energy by giving them maximum incentives.”

The Chief Minister said that during the Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2023, UP has received investment proposals worth Rs 2.73 lakh crore from 20 companies to set up units in the green hydrogen sector. This will create job opportunities for more than 60,000 people. The state government is committed to honestly implement all the MOUs signed in GIS-2023, he underlined.
