With 1142 Cases, COVID Tally In Madhya Pradesh Nears 50,000 Mark

The highest 189 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Indore district followed by 162 cases in Bhopal, 130 in Gwalior and 85 in Jabalpur.

BHOPAL || As is the case in many parts of the country, Coronavirus cases seem to be on the rise in Madhya Pradesh as well. According to official data, the number of COVID-19 cases has reached around 49 thousand 493 after 1,142 new cases in the last 24 hours.

With 12 patients succumbing to the infection on Thursday, the death toll in the state has risen to 1,1171. State's Health department which issues a health bulletin daily, informed that 1,065 patients were discharged from various medical facilities in MP int he past one day, taking the total number of recovered cases to 37,450.

As of now, an official told The News Agency, there were 10,782 "active cases in Madhya Pradesh". A glimmer of hope however has come in the fact that the state's recovery rate has increased to 75.4 percent.

The highest 189 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Indore district followed by 162 cases in Bhopal, 130 in Gwalior and 85 in Jabalpur. The number of tests in MP has exceeded 20 thousand per day, at the same time, more than 11 lakh 12 thousand tests have been conducted in the state so far.

MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and some of his cabinet colleagues have in the past been infected with the dreaded virus, which has claimed millions worldwide since its outbreak in Wuhan province of China in December 2019.
