Union Railways Minister Of State Suresh Angadi Succumbs To COVID-19
NEW DELHI || Sad news came in from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) late on Wednesday as union minister of state for Railways, Suresh Angadi died, two weeks after contracting the deadly Coronavirus.
He is the first Union Minister and the fourth MP to die due to COVID-19 infection.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned the passing away of the minister. He hailed from Belgaum district of Karnataka and held several organisational posts in the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, in his career spanning many years.
The 65-year-old was elected MP in the Lok Sabha elections in 2004, and again in 2009. He was elected for a third term in 2014, when the BJP came to power in the centre, and for a fourth term in the general elections last year, after which he was made Union Minister of State for Railways.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed his condolences at the untimely demise of the union minister.
