Two UP Migrant Workers Killed, One Critical, While Taking a Selfie With the Vande Bharat Train
Rajkot, February 3 (TNA) Two young migrant factory workers from Uttar Pradesh lost their lives, and a third was critically injured when they were struck by a speeding Vande Bharat Express train while attempting a group selfie near railway tracks on Monday evening. The preventable accident, which occurred around 4:45 PM between Bhaktinagar and Ribda railway stations, has prompted police appeals against risky photography near active tracks.
The victims-Sandeep Patel, Sandeep Koli (both deceased), and Kapil Patel (injured)-were in their 20s and employed as labourers in a local factory. According to Aji Dam police sub-inspector A.R. Rathod, the trio had gathered near a railway crossing close to Gondal Chowkdi to drop off one friend heading home when they decided to pose for a selfie with the oncoming Veraval-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat train in the background.
Misjudging the semi-high-speed train's proximity, all three were hit; Sandeep Patel died on the spot, Sandeep Koli succumbed during hospital treatment, and Kapil remains in critical condition at Rajkot Civil Hospital.
