Two Coaches of Rajdhani Express Catch Fire Near Ratlam, Causing Panic
Ratlam, May 17 (TNA) Panic broke out on Sunday morning after a fire erupted in two coaches of the Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express (12431), disrupting rail traffic on the Delhi-Mumbai route. The incident took place between Alot and Vikramgarh railway stations, forcing several trains to be halted at different stations.
According to preliminary information, the Rajdhani Express, travelling from Thiruvananthapuram to Hazrat Nizamuddin, had departed from Ratlam when fire broke out in the B-1 coach around 5:30 am between Luni and Vikramgarh. The guard immediately alerted the loco pilot, following which the train was stopped at once.
Rail operations on the Delhi-Mumbai line were affected after the fire, causing inconvenience to passengers and leading to delays in multiple trains. Railway staff acted swiftly and evacuated around 68 passengers safely, shifting them to other coaches. Fire brigade teams reached the spot soon after the alert and began dousing operations.
The incident falls under the Kota railway division. Two coaches were completely gutted in the fire, but no casualties have been reported so far. Train operations on the New Delhi-Mumbai rail route were affected, and several trains were stopped at other stations.
