Twitter Takes Down 52 Tweets Which Criticised Indian Govt's Handling Of Corona Pandemic

New Delhi, April 25 (TNA) Microblogging site Twitter has taken down as many as 52 Tweets by various people after "legal requests" by the Government of India.

These Tweets, it was informed, were critical of the handling of the Coronavirus pandemic by the government and acute shortage of oxygen and life-saving medicines. Government clarified that this was necessary as fake news was being spread on the social media.

Most of these Tweets were about the mishandling and also about the continued political rallies by the ruling party in West Bengal and other poll bound states amid the raging second wave of the COVIC pandemic in the country.

The tweets deleted by Twitter include some from West Bengal minister Moloy Ghatak, actor Vineet Kumar Singh, film maker Vinod Kapri and MP Revanth Reddy.

The Uttar Pradesh Police also on Saturday had warned people who were sharing information on social media which was tarnishing the image of the state government. ADG (Law & Order) Prashant Kumar had threatened of legal action against all such errant persons.
