Chandigarh, May 10 (TNA) The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Tuesday urged Election Commission of India (ECI) to immediately deploy para Military forces for Jalandhar Parliamentary bye election for which polling is slated for May 10, 2023 and it also demanded videography of every booth falling under the Constituency.

In a letter written to Chief Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India, SAD Spokesman and Legal Wing President Advocate Arshdeep Singh Kler informed that ECI that though every effort is being made by the Election Commission of India to hold a free and fair elections in the above said Parliament Constituency but the intentions of the incumbent government headed by Bhagwant Mann seems to be otherwise.

He said that from the day the election process started the ruling Aam Aadmi Party started the process of threatening and intimidating the leaders and workers of opposition parties. He said that we are constrained to write that it has become the habit of the ruling party to misuse government machinery and to brazenly violate the model code of conduct.

The SAD leader also alleged that it has come to their notice that the ruling Aam Aadmi Party is all set to capture the booths, specially of all the Urban Jalandhar Vidhan Sabha Constituencies (Jalandhar Central, Jalandhar North, Jalandhar West & Jalandhar Cantt) and also the other vidhan sabha constituencies such as Nakodar, Adampur, Phillaur, Shahkot & Kartarpur which fall under Jalandhar Parliament by bringing people and bouncers from different parts of the State and for this purpose a large number of transportation vehicles have been arranged by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party and all illegal means are being used by ruling party to pressurize sarpanches and employees of the State Government to support the ruling Aam Aadmi party.

He urged ECI that keeping in view these facts and circumstances, it should immediately order deployment of para Military forces for the election and should order videography of every booth falling in the constituency apart from ordering increase in number of election observers to ensure free and fair bye election.
