Poll Panel Divests UP IAS Officer of Observer Charge After His Social Media Post 'Brags' Of His Gujarat Assignment

New Delhi, Nov 18 (TNA) Publicity on social media by an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the UP cadre proved dear to him as the Election Commission of India (ECI) has acted against him. Abhishek Singh is the bureaucrat in question who was recently sent to Gujarat as an observer of the state assembly polls.

He however recently posted his picture with his official car in the backdrop and his security apparatus as well. Singh was made the observer for the Bapunagar and Asarwa assembly constituencies of Ahmedabad in the Gujarat elections.

After getting the duty, he started exaggerating his deployment on Instagram and Twitter. The complaint reached the poll panel along with many of his posts. Taking cognizance of which, the Commission has immediately relieved Abhishek Singh from the responsibility of the observer and has also decided not to put him on any kind of election responsibility or duty till further orders.
