Petrol and Diesel Prices Hold Steady Across Major Indian Cities Today
New Delhi, April 6 (TNA) Petrol and diesel prices across major Indian cities are holding steady today, with only minor local variations due to state taxes and dealer margins. In the key metros, petrol is trading above ₹100 per litre in several hubs, while diesel remains slightly cheaper but still remains high compared with earlier‑year levels.
In Delhi, petrol is priced at about ₹94.77 per litre, with diesel a bit lower at around ₹87.70 per litre. Mumbai has among the highest petrol rates, with prices hovering near ₹103.50 per litre, while diesel is close to ₹90.03 per litre. Kolkata sees petrol around ₹105.40 per litre and diesel ranging between roughly ₹92.00 and ₹93.50 per litre. In Chennai, petrol is around ₹100.80 per litre and diesel between about ₹91.50 and ₹92.40 per litre.
Bengaluru’s petrol is close to ₹102.90 per litre, with diesel near ₹89.00 per litre, while Hyderabad has petrol at approximately ₹107.45 per litre and diesel between ₹95.70 and ₹97.00 per litre. In Lucknow, petrol is quoted at about ₹94.70–₹94.80 per litre, with diesel hovering around ₹95.70–₹95.80 per litre.
Fuel prices have remained largely unchanged since the last revision, even as global crude‑oil markets show continued volatility linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. These high pump prices are keeping pressure on household transport costs and freight expenses, especially in states that impose higher excise duties and VAT on fuel.
