MHA Denies Info On Compulsory Retirement Of IPS Amitabh Thakur

Lucknow, May 3 (TNA) The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India has denied information to ex IPS Officer Amitabh Thakur about his compulsory retirement. Following the decision taken by MHA, UP Cadre IPS Amitabh Thakur had been given compulsory retirement on 23 March 2021 along with 02 others.

Amitabh had sought documents of the MHA related with this decision. The MHA has denied the information under section 8(1)(i) of the RTI Act, which is as regards cabinet papers.

Disagreeing with the decision, Amitabh has preferred first appeal saying that decision has already been made in this case and hence denial under section 8(1)(i) is not correct. He also called denial of information related with his livelihood as being against the basic spirit of RTI Act.
