Mayawati Asks Government To Pay "Appropriate Attention" To Rafale Defence Deal Kickback Charges

Lucknow, July 5 (TNA) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Monday urged the central government to pay "appropriate attention" to the bribery charges in the multi-billion dollar deal for purchase of Rafale fighter jets from France.

In a series of tweets, the four time UP chief minister said the judicial probe ordered by the French government into the charges of kickbacks being paid in the deal inked by the Narendra Modi govt had caught the attention of the domestic and international media.

"The matter is once again in public attention and it was necessary that the government appropriately deal with the situation" she said further.

The Dalit leader however went on to drag the Congress into the issue and said the grand old party had earlier been mired into controversy of defence scandals. BSP suggests to the government of India that for public satisfaction, it would be good that the matter is attended to on priority and that it is put to rest once and for all, she mused.
