Massive Data Leak Exposes 149 Million email Addresses, Passwords From Gmail, FB, Netflix, Instagram, PayPal

New Delhi, January 29 (TNA) A massive data leak exposing around 149 million email addresses and passwords from platforms like Gmail, Facebook, Instagram, Netflix, and PayPal has surfaced online, compiled from past breaches rather than a single new hack.

The unsecured 96 GB database, discovered by cybersecurity researcher Jeremiah Fowler, aggregates credentials stolen via infostealer malware over years, including 48 million Gmail logins, millions from Facebook and Instagram, and others from banking and government sites. It poses risks through credential stuffing attacks, where hackers reuse leaked passwords across sites.

Users can check exposure for free on Have I Been Pwned (haveibeenpwned.com), created by expert Troy Hunt; enter your email to see involved breaches, dates, and data types like passwords. The site lists details such as breach sources and whether passwords were compromised.
