Major Spike In Covid Cases In India, 5335 New Cases And 13 Deaths In 24-Hours

Lucknow/New Delhi, April 6 (TNA) Corona cases are once again on a steep rise across India. In what started as a trickle just a few days back, it is now spiralling alarmingly, the latest data shared by the union health ministry suggests. In the past 24-hours, India has recorded 5,335 fresh cases of Coronavirus.

This is worrying as this peak has come after a long gap of 195 days, an official said. LAst time such numbers (5,383) were logged was on September 23 last year. In UP, in the last one day, 163 new Covid cases have been logged of which maximum-47, were in Noida. Lucknow logged 24, Ghaziabad 13, Varanasi 14, Lalitpur 7, Amroha 9 and Lakhimpur Kheri five.

Amid the rising cases of the deadly virus, Prof Manindra Agarwal of IIT-Kanpur who rightly predicted the previous waves has said that the spike was reflective of falling immunity in the country. He also said that this might actually turn out to be India’s fourth Covid wave. In the next two months, he has said, this number could go up to 15-20,000 cases per day.

In the past 24-hours, 13 people have died battling the virus, with the highest fatalities (7) being in Kerala. Delhi has recorded a positivity rate of 26.54%. It logged 521 cases which was the highest since August 27, 2022 when 573 cases were found.
