India's First ISL TV Channel Launched
New Delhi, December 7 (TNA) The union government launched PM e-Vidya Channel 31 on Friday, the first television channel dedicated to Indian Sign Language (ISL), as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The initiative aims to enhance educational access for the hearing-impaired community by providing tailored content including academic programs, skill training, career guidance, and mental health resources. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Minister of State for Education Jayant Singh officiated the launch in New Delhi.
This channel represents a significant step towards inclusive education, fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to empower persons with disabilities through education, the minister said.
