Harivansh Narayan Singh Re-elected Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha

NEW DELHI || On the first day of the monsoon session that began in the midst of the Corona crisis, the NDA managed to show its strength in the Rajya Sabha and re-occupy the post of Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, defeating the common candidate of the opposition parties.

Janata Dal United leader Harivansh Singh was re-elected for the top post again. With this, the strength of NDA in Rajya Sabha has increased further. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Harbans Singh on the victory.

Janata Dal United leader Harivansh Singh defeated RJD candidate and MP Manoj Jha from the opposition. JP Nadda, Narendra Tomar and Naresh Gujral proposed in support of Harivansh when the election process started.

While Congress leader Anand Sharma, Ghulam Nabi Azad Trichy Shiva proposed in support of Manoj Jha. In the Rajya Sabha, BJP member JP Nadda proposed the name of NDA candidate Harivansh for the post of Deputy Chairman. Harivansh was elected Deputy Speaker by voice vote.
