Former President Of India Pranab Mukherjee Dead

NEW DELHI || Former president of India, Pranab Mukherjee died after prolonged battle with lung infection on Monday evening. He was 84. His condition had deteriorated over the past 24-hours, a statement from the medical facility he is being treated at, had said earlier on Monday.

His son Abhijit Mukherjee shared the sad news. He tweeted : With a Heavy Heart , this is to inform you that my father Shri #PranabMukherjee has just passed away inspite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers ,duas & prarthanas from people throughout India ! I thank all of You.

The 84-year-old leader who has been at the Army's Research and Referral Hospital since August 10 where he had gone for a minor brain procedure, had tested COVID positive. He had been in coma ever since.

"There is a decline in the medical condition of Pranab Mukherjee since yesterday. He is in septic shock due to his lung infection and is being managed by team of specialists. Mukherjee had developed a lung infection and a renal dysfunction over the past few days, doctors say.
