Former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Dies At 79

Thiruvananthapuram, July 18 (TNA) Two-time Kerala chief minister and veteran Congress leader Oommen Chandy, died in Bengaluru in the early hours of Tuesday. He was 79. The death of the former Kerala chief minister was announced by his son, Chandy Oommen, in a social media post. "Appa has passed away", Oommen wrote on his Facebook page, without elaborating.

Chandy, who had not been keeping well for quite some time, had been staying in Bengaluru for treatment at a health facility. He served as the CM of Kerala between 2004-2006 and again between 2011-2016. He was also the leader of opposition in the Kerala state assembly from 2006-2011. He has been an MLA since 1970.
