Flight Carrying 104 Indian Illegal Immigrants From USA Lands In Amritsar Amid Tight Security
Amritsar, February 5 (TNA) A special flight carrying 104 deported Indian nationals landed at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport at 1:55 PM on Wednesday, under heavy security arrangements by the Punjab Police.
According to sources, the deportees from the USA include 30 residents of Punjab, 33 each from Haryana and Gujarat, three each from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, and two from Chandigarh. Earlier reports suggested that a total of 205 illegal Indian immigrants were being deported.
Ahead of the flight’s arrival, senior officials, including the Amritsar airport director, deputy commissioner, commissioner of police, and CIF director, held a high-level meeting to discuss security measures. Punjab Police barricaded the cargo gate and another entry point at the airport to ensure a smooth process.
