BCCI Faces Backlash Over Nod For India-Pakistan Clash In Asia Cup 2025
Mumbai, July 28 (TNA) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is under intense criticism on social media following its approval of an India vs Pakistan match in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, scheduled to be held in the UAE from September 9–28. The much-anticipated fixture between the arch-rivals is set for September 14. The backlash comes amid ongoing political tensions between the two countries.
Many fans, political commentators, and social media users have expressed anger over BCCI’s decision to allow the match while bilateral ties remain frozen. Several voices have called for India’s boycott of the Asia Cup or a withdrawal from their match against Pakistan.
Some users questioned the rationale behind agreeing to play Pakistan in international events while bilateral cricket remains suspended, with hashtags such as #BoycottAsiaCup and #CancelIndPakMatch trending on social platforms.
Reports confirm that although the BCCI is officially hosting the tournament, all matches will be played at a neutral venue due to the diplomatic situation. A BCCI source clarified that the decision to play was not unilateral but a result of the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) collective deliberations.
Nonetheless, the controversy has sparked a heated debate in cricketing and political circles, with BCCI yet to issue a formal statement addressing the criticism.
