Appointment Of Justice Dipankar Datta As Supreme Court Judge Notified
New Delhi, Dec 11 (TNA) The Central government has cleared the appointment of Bombay High Court Chief Justice Dipankar Datta as a judge of the Supreme Court of India. A notification to that effect has been published by the Law Ministry's Department of Justice.
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his elevation to the top court on September 26. he was also earlier at the Calcutta High Court and was appointed as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court in April 2020.
Father of the 57-year-old Datta was Justice Salil Kumar Datta, also a Calcutta High Court judge. Before his elevation as High Court judge he practised as a constitutional and civil matters lawyer.
