All Mumbai Schools Which Were To Reopen On Monday To Now Remain Shut Till December 31

Mumbai, Nov 20 (TNA) Date of schools in Mumbai to reopen after the long shutdown due to the dreaded Coronavirus has been deferred again.

All schools falling under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) jurisdiction were to reopen from Monday - November 23 but with a spike once again in the number of fresh COVID cases, the government has said that the schools will now remain shut till December 31.

Mumbai on Thursday reported 924 fresh cases, taking its overall numbers to 2,72,449. This was the highest daily count so far this week in the city. Its death numbers has gone up to 10,624 with 12 new fatalities reported till Thursday.

Media reports quoting Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar inform that the decision has been necessitated with the fresh rise in Coronavirus infection cases.

Municipal officials also said that they are apprehensive of a second wave coming and hence all precautions are being taken to safeguard the health and well being of children.
