Akhilesh Yadav Does A U-turn, Would Now Take The COVID Jab

Lucknow, June 8 (TNA) A day after prime minister Narendra Modi announced that vaccines would be made available free by the government of India to all above 18 years of age, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday made a U-turn on his earlier opposition to the COVID vaccine.

In a tweet, the former UP chief minister said he was against the "BJP Vaccine" but would surely take the jab now since it is a "Government of India vaccine" now.

On Monday, his father and party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav got himself inoculated at Medanta in Gurugram, much against the stated party stand which opposed the vaccine. Akhilesh also appealed to the people who have not yet taken the vaccine to get themselves inoculated.

Soon after Mulayam had taken the vaccine's first shot, UP deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya had taken to Twitter and had greeted the former union defense minister for taking the "swadeshi vaccine".
