New Delhi, August 17 (TNA) While President Donald Trump pushes for peace between Russia and Ukraine, he's facing growing dissent at home. Pro-democracy advocates and labour groups staged hundreds of rallies across the United States on Saturday, protesting what they call the Trump administration’s attempts to rig congressional maps in favour of Republicans, especially in Texas.

In Houston, Jackie Anderson, President of the Houston Federation of Teachers, spoke out during a demonstration. "We do not want the President to take over our state by manipulating our representatives and seizing seats through unfair means. We want democracy," she said.

In Chicago, protester James Schuert voiced his concern: "We must stand up to a president who sits in the White House and threatens democracy while trying to divide Texas."

Major protests also took place in cities like Oakland, California, and New York City. Ironically, California’s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom is reportedly considering redrawing electoral districts in response to Republican strategies, signaling growing tensions across party lines.
