Pakistan Dismisses Over 100 Policemen For Refusing Champions Trophy Security Duties

1 min read

Islamabad, February 26 (TNA) In an unprecedented move, Pakistan's Punjab Police has dismissed over 100 officers who refused to perform assigned security duties during the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. These officers, from various branches of the force, were tasked with securing routes between Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium and designated hotels but either absented themselves or declined their responsibilities.

Inspector General Usman Anwar emphasized that negligence in international event security is intolerable. Reports suggest the officers felt overburdened by extended duty hours.

Despite these challenges, officials assure that the tournament continues safely with enthusiastic fan participation. Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar dismissed reports of potential terror threats to the tournament, stating that Pakistan is hosting the event peacefully and successfully.
