Morocco’s National Football Team Sets Record With 16 Consecutive Wins, Dethroning Spain And Germany
Rabat, October 16 (TNA) The national football team achieved a historic feat by setting a world record of 16 consecutive victories with a 1-0 win over Congo in a match played on Tuesday evening at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. Thanks to this performance, Morocco has succeeded in dethroning Spain and Germany, which held the top spot with 15 consecutive victories in 2008-2009 and 2010-2011, respectively.
The Atlas Lions won the match 1-0, bringing their winning streak to 16 consecutive victories in all competitions, including the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and friendly matches. This world record in terms of consecutive victories achieved by the Atlas Lions confirms the considerable rise of Moroccan football and the prestigious place it now occupies on the international stage.
In addition to their string of victories, the most striking feature of the Atlas Lions' exceptional run under national coach Walid Regragui has been the impressive scores recorded in their various matches. In terms of statistics, the Atlas Lions scored 50 goals in 16 matches, an average of more than 3 goals per match, while conceding only 4 goals. Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou managed to keep a clean sheet 12 times, reflecting the team's defensive solidity and rigorous tactical discipline across different lines.
The results achieved in recent years by different age groups are tangible proof of this qualitative leap in Moroccan football, which is now a benchmark and an example to follow at the Arab and African levels.
This success also reflects the national team's consistent levels of tactics, discipline and the players' ability to compete with the biggest football schools in different age categories, which explains Morocco's progress in the current FIFA rankings, where it recently reached 11th place in the world, while continuing to dominate the African and Arab rankings.
Indeed, this series of victories makes Morocco a formidable opponent for continental and international titles and paves the way for new generations of talent to continue writing the history of Moroccan football.
