King Mohammed VI Praised For “Preservation, Outreach Of Judeo-Moroccan Cultural And Religious Heritage”

Casablanca, January 30 (TNA) King Mohammed VI has been praised for his major role in the preservation and outreach of Judeo-Moroccan cultural and religious heritage. This recognition was made at a conference held in Casablanca to commemorate the International Day for the Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust.

The participants highlighted the king's efforts to strengthen the links between the Moroccan Jewish community established abroad and their motherland, through an informed vision for the preservation of Judeo-Moroccan heritage and the institutional modernization of the business management structures of this community.

They also recalled the actions of the previous sovereigns of Morocco, Feu SM Mohammed V and Feu SM Hassan II, to defend and protect Moroccan Jews against Nazi barbarism during French colonization.

During this event, the president of the Mimouna association highlighted the efforts of the late SM Mohammed V to protect Moroccan Jews from oppression under the Vichy regime.

The king set up three institutions to consecrate the richness of Judeo-Moroccan culture. The National Council of the Moroccan Jewish Community manages the affairs of the community and ensures the preservation of its heritage and cultural and religious influence, with regional committees.

King Mohammed VI, as Commander of Believers, continues the work of his predecessors by ensuring the preservation of Judeo-Moroccan heritage. He has undertaken many actions to rehabilitate and upgrade places of worship, sanctuaries, neighborhoods and cemeteries, arousing the admiration of the international community and strengthening the Hebrew component of Moroccan national identity.

At a time when the world is facing jolts, communitarianism and identity withdrawal, King Mohammed VI advocates universalism and inter-religious dialogue, ensuring that Morocco is considered a land of religious coexistence and living together in harmony and peace.
