Kamala Harris Speaks To WHO Director General, Discusses Steps To Contain COVID

Washington, January 22 (TNA) Within days of been sworn in as the new vice-president of the United States of America (USA), Kamala Harris has got down to business. According to reports, she met through video-conferencing "an inspiring group of small business owners."

She later said that she knew they were in particular hit hard by the Coronavirus pandemic and said that it was for this reason that she along with president Joe Biden "were taking immediate action to help small businesses – because they power our economy, and they need relief."

Harris also spoke to WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus over phone.

She is said to have discussed ways on "how the United States will work as a constructive partner to strengthen and reform the WHO—which will be a vital step to controlling COVID-19." The Trump administration had pulled out of the WHO accusing it of being callous in warning countries about COVID.
