Israeli PM Netanyahu Writes To Moroccan King Recognizing Its Sovereignty Over The Territory Of Western Sahara

Rabat, July 18 (TNA) Moroccan king, Mohammed VI has received a letter from the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which he has brought to the monarchs attention the decision of the State of Israel to 'recognize the sovereignty of Morocco over the territory of Western Sahara.'

In this respect, the Israeli Prime Minister indicated that his country's position will be 'reflected in all relevant acts and documents of the Israeli Government.' He also stressed that the decision would be 'transmitted to the United Nations, to regional and international organizations of which Israel is a member, and to all countries with which Israel maintains diplomatic relations.'

In his letter to the Sovereign, the Israeli Prime Minister informed that Israel is positively examining 'the opening of a consulate in the city of Dakhla,' as part of the implementation of this state decision. It should be recalled that the Israeli decision to recognise the Moroccan Sahara is a major victory for the Kingdom, consolidating international support for the Kingdom's territorial integrity.

It also consolidates the very favourable dynamic created thanks to the Clear-Sighted Vision and the Royal Impulse in recent years, notably with the American recognition; the support for autonomy by more than 15 European countries, including Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria, and the opening of 28 consulates of African, Arab and Latin American countries in the Saharan provinces.

This decision will also facilitate and encourage Israeli and international investment in the Kingdom's southern provinces. This constant position of our August Sovereign in favour of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, which the Sovereign has elevated to the rank of a national cause.
