Rabat, Oct 2 (TNA) Delegations from the Libyan House of Representatives and the High Council of State called on the international community on Friday in Rabat to support the electoral operation to be held on December 24, in accordance with consensual laws and on the basis of the results of the inter-Libyan political dialogue.

In a joint communiqué issued at the end of their consultative meeting on the electoral law, the two parties urged the international community to ensure that the results of these deadlines are respected by sending international observers. to ensure that it runs smoothly.

The consultative meeting held in Rabat and which aimed to agree on the organization of the presidential and legislative elections of December 24, 2021, took place under "conditions of friendship and fraternity and in a climate of consensus and compromise between partners from the same country ", underlined the press release read by the representative of the House of Representatives, Al Hadi Seghir, during a joint press conference with the second vice-president of the High Council of State , Omar Bouchah.

In addition, the statement praised the support of Morocco to the Libyan people to achieve security and stability in this country, as well as "the warm welcome" of the Kingdom, while thanking the American ambassador in Libya, Richard Norland, for his support of this meeting.

This meeting reflects the importance of the next electoral operation and the need to "go beyond the current differences" to lead Libya towards "a lasting and stable stage", but also the conviction as to the spirit of consensus that reigns between the Libyan House of Representatives and the High Council of State, enshrined in the political agreement reached in Skhirat on December 17, 2015, according to the same source.

This Libyan consultative meeting on the electoral law was marked by the presence of members of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), it was reported.
