France Now In Its Fourth Wave Of COVID-19

Paris, July 22 (TNA) French Prime Minister Jean Castex has said that his country was facing the fourth wave of the deadly Coronavirus. In the past few days the country has witnessed an almost 140% jump in the number of cases.

The government also said that a sizeable number of these new cases were of people who had yet not taken the vaccine.

"We are in the fourth wave...the infamous Delta variant is here, it is here, it is the majority (of cases) and what characterises it from those that preceded it is that it is much more contagious" he was quoted by the media as saying.

France has made the health pass - certifying that the holder has either been fully vaccinated, tested negative over the previous 48 hours or recovered from the disease over the previous six months — meanwhile has been made mandatory to visit leisure and cultural venues.
