New York, July 29 (TNA) Chaos erupted in Midtown Manhattan Monday evening when a mass shooting inside the skyscraper at 345 Park Avenue left at least four people dead, including a New York Police Department officer and the suspected gunman. The attacker, identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura from Las Vegas, reportedly died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after barricading himself on an upper floor, according to police and media reports.

The shooting began around 6:30 p.m. in a building that houses major corporate offices, including the NFL and Blackstone. Authorities confirmed that several others were injured during the attack, and emergency responders—including NYPD, FDNY, and the FBI—flooded the area.

As officers secured the scene and launched a floor-by-floor search, the surrounding blocks—ordinarily packed with commuters and tourists—were placed on lockdown, and people inside the skyscraper were ordered to shelter in place. Videos showed streets flooded with heavily armed officers and emergency vehicles as panic swept through the heart of the city.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams urged residents to steer clear of the Park Avenue and East 51st Street area during what he described as an active shooter investigation. The NYPD bomb squad and drone units were also deployed as a precaution.

While the immediate threat has been contained, police say investigations are ongoing and the motive remains under investigation. The incident has shocked the Midtown community, which is home to several landmarks and high-profile businesses.
