BCCI Threatens ICC Intervention as ACC Chief Mohsin Naqvi Refuses to Hand Over Asia Cup Trophy to India

Mumbai, October 21 (TNA) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may take strong action in the ongoing Asia Cup trophy controversy after failing to receive any response from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

The dispute began after India won the Asia Cup 2025, but the trophy remains locked at the ACC headquarters in Dubai as Naqvi has refused to hand it over to the Indian team. Last week, BCCI formally sent a letter demanding the trophy’s handover, but there has been no reply from Naqvi’s side.

Sources say that with no resolution in sight, the BCCI plans to raise the issue at the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting, seeking intervention to ensure the trophy is rightfully awarded to India.

The controversy has been further aggravated by Naqvi’s condition that India must organise a formal ceremony and send a player to collect the trophy from him personally, a demand the BCCI has rejected.

The board insists the trophy should be sent directly to the Indian team as usual, calling for respect and official recognition of India as the Asia Cup champions.
