After Mob Violence, Public Emergency Extended Till January 21 In Washington

Washington, January 7 (TNA) The Washington DC mayor Muriel Bowser extended public emergency to 15 days on Thursday. The decision came after large-scale violence at the Capitol Hill by Trump supporters even as the Congress was in session.

The Mayor Muriel announced that the city will be under a state of public emergency that will last until January 21, reports said. Washington earlier witnessed, never-seen-before violent scenes as supporters of outgoing president Donald Trump went berserk and targeted the Capitol Hill which was holding a joint session to count the 2020 Electoral College votes.

One person died in the violence which left the world shocked and stunned. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed concern over the incidents and said that transfer of power should be smooth.
