Yogi Cracks Whip On Cops Responsible For Barbaric Cane Charge On Students of Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University
Lucknow, September 2 (TNA) A major controversy erupted at Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University in Barabanki after LLB students protesting outside the campus were subjected to a brutal police lathi-charge on Monday.
Students, supported by ABVP activists, accused the university of charging illegal fees for an LLB program whose Bar Council accreditation lapsed years ago, leaving their academic futures in jeopardy.
According to injured protestors, police under CO City Harshit Chauhan chased and beat students brutally, sending several to the hospital, where further chaos erupted as beds were reportedly unavailable for the wounded.
The incident prompted swift government response—CO City has been suspended, the local police team involved in the incident has been sent to line and a top Ayodhya Commissionary official has been appointed to investigate the matter.
Despite Vice Chancellor Vikash Mishra’s assurances that affiliation procedures with the Bar Council are ongoing, students and their families remain skeptical amid allegations of threats, harassment, and fee exploitation.
Political leaders, including BJP’s district chief, condemned the police action, demanding legal proceedings against those responsible.
The conflict underscores broader concerns about student rights, forceful administrative responses, and the need for clear regulation over educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh, while the public and government await a comprehensive probe and resolution.
